Privacy Policy

Moxie Menu is made by Jakie Studios LLC, the makers of Moxie Vino. This policy covers the Moxie Menu iPhone app and this website. Plain version: we collect what the app needs to work, we do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising.

What we collect

• Your account. An email address, and a name and profile photo if you sign in with Google or Apple. If you use Sign in with Apple’s hide-my-email option, we only ever see the relay address. One account works in both Moxie Menu and Moxie Vino.
• Menus you scan. Photos, PDFs, links or text you give the app so it can read the menu.
• Allergies, diets and tastes. The allergies, diets, likes and dislikes you pick, so the app can flag dishes for you. These stay on your account and are never shown to anyone else.
• What you save and rate. Your menu history, what you mark “Had it”, your ratings, and the words you look up.
• Location, only if you turn it on. Used at the moment you scan to work out which restaurant you’re at. We don’t track where you go.
• Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription, handled through Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your card details.
• A device identifier. Used only to allow one free decode before you create an account, and to stop that being abused.
• Crash and error reports. Technical diagnostics when something goes wrong.

What we do not collect

No contacts, no advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

How your menus are used

When you scan a menu, it is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to read the dishes and describe how they taste. Anthropic processes it to return that result and, under their commercial terms, does not use it to train their models. The decoded menu (dish names, prices, and our taste notes) is kept and shared between everyone who scans the same menu, so the next person gets it instantly. Your allergies, history and ratings are never part of that shared copy.

Menus you send to the table

If you send a menu to your table, anyone with the link can see that menu’s dishes and taste notes on this website. The page never shows your name, your allergies or anything else about you. The links are unlisted and kept out of search engines.

Who else is involved

• Supabase: database, sign-in, and file storage.
• Anthropic: the AI that reads menus and describes dishes.
• Apple Maps and Google Places: finding the restaurant you’re at, if location is on.
• Apple: the App Store and all payments.
• RevenueCat: keeps track of subscription status.
• Google and Apple: only if you choose to sign in with them.
• Sentry: crash and error reporting.
• Vercel: hosts this website.

How long we keep it

Your data stays until you delete it or close your account. Ask us to close your account and we will delete your personal data within 30 days, apart from anything we have to keep for tax or legal reasons.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hi@jakiestudios.com. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under the GDPR or California law; we apply the same process to everyone regardless.

Children

Moxie Menu is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
