What is añejo?

Añejo · Spanish

Tequila or mezcal aged in oak for one to three years. Darker and rounder, closer to a whiskey than to a margarita spirit.

What it tastes like

Caramel, vanilla, dried fruit and toasted oak, with the cooked agave still underneath. Smooth enough to sip slowly.

Where you’ll see it

Tequila lists as a sipping pour, and in stirred agave drinks like a tequila old fashioned.
