What is armagnac?
Armagnac · French
Grape brandy from Gascony in southwest France, often more rustic and characterful than cognac. Mostly distilled once, which keeps more fruit.
What it tastes like
Rich and robust, with prunes, dried apricot, toffee and a little earthiness. Fuller and wilder than most cognac.
Where you’ll see it
After-dinner lists at French restaurants, poured neat in a snifter, and in prune and Armagnac desserts.
