What is chartreuse?
Chartreuse · French
Herbal French liqueur made by Carthusian monks from about 130 plants. Green is strong and intensely herbal; yellow is softer, sweeter and honeyed.
What it tastes like
Green tastes like a minty, piney herb garden with real heat; yellow is gentler, with honey, saffron and anise.
Where you’ll see it
Cocktail bars in the Last Word and Bijou, as an after-dinner sip, and in the occasional dessert.
