What is makrut lime?
Makrut lime · Thai
A bumpy Southeast Asian lime used mostly for its glossy double leaves, which smell intensely of lime zest. Older menus say kaffir lime.
What it tastes like
The leaves taste like lime zest turned way up, with a floral, almost lemongrass-like perfume. The rind is very bitter.
Where you’ll see it
Thai curries and soups like tom yum and tom kha, Indonesian and Malaysian dishes, plus infused syrups and cocktails.
