Moxie Menu

What does a mojito taste like?

A mojito tastes cool, minty and refreshing: muddled fresh mint and lime, a little sugar and white rum, topped with soda over lots of ice.

Mojito

mint, lime and rum, fizzy

A mojito is a Cuban highball: fresh mint gently muddled with lime and sugar, then white rum, crushed ice and a splash of soda. It tastes like a cold glass of minty limeade with a rum kick. The mint is fresh and cooling rather than toothpaste-y, the lime keeps it tangy, and the soda makes it light and easy. White rum adds a soft sugarcane sweetness without taking over. It's long and refreshing, more summer afternoon than strong cocktail, and it gets better as the mint opens up.

Where you’ll see it

On most bar and Cuban or Latin restaurant menus, in a tall glass with a mint sprig. You'll often see fruit versions (strawberry, passion fruit, mango) and virgin mojitos too.

Order it if you want something minty, fizzy and refreshing on a hot day.

Quick questions

Is a mojito strong?
Not very. It's a single pour of rum stretched with lime, soda and lots of ice, so it drinks light.
Is a mojito sweet?
A little. There is sugar to balance the lime, but a good one tastes more fresh and minty than sweet.
