What is cachaça?
Cachaça · Portuguese
Brazilian spirit distilled from fresh sugarcane juice instead of molasses, the base of the caipirinha. Grassier and funkier than most rum.
What it tastes like
Grassy, fruity and a little funky, with raw sugarcane sweetness. Aged ones pick up flavor from Brazilian woods as well as oak.
Where you’ll see it
Brazilian restaurants and steakhouses, tiki and rum bars, and anywhere that pours a caipirinha.
