Cask finish
Whiskey or rum given extra months in a second barrel, like a sherry, port or wine cask, to pick up that cask's flavor.
What it tastes like
The base spirit plus a layer from the second cask: dried fruit and nuts from sherry, berries from port, spice from rum.
Where you’ll see it
Whisky and rum lists, usually written as sherry cask, port finish or similar.
